EK AUR EK GYARAH
Starring: Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Amrita Arora and introducing Nandini
Singh
Director: David Dhawan
Music: Shankar-Eshaan-Loy
Lyrics: Sameer
The comedy trio of David Dhawan-Govinda-Sanjay Dutt are reunited once
again with high hopes of striking gold at the box office, which is not
only important for their individual careers but also for the industry
as a whole, which is starving for a good money maker. Their latest effort,
Ek Aur Ek Gyarah has a catchy title and the trailers certainly make it
look fun, but will it successfully make the audience laugh? The movie
has been made under the banner of showman, Subhash Ghai's production house,
Mukta Arts. The soundtrack is composed by the talented and increasingly
popular Shanker-Eshaan-Loy.
1. Beimaan Mohabbat (K.K./Shankar Mahadevan/Gayatri)
The album starts with a fast paced and mastiful song. K.K. has lent his
voice to many soundtracks of recent times, and it must be said that he
is impressive in the energetic songs! Accompanied by Shankar Mahadevan
and Gayatri (who sounds a lot like Sunidhi Chauhan) this track is an impressive
start to the soundtrack, however it does follow the recent genre of songs
i.e. Kambhakt Ishq, Ishq Kameena, Ding Dong Bole and many others.
RATING: 6/10
2. Main Jogia (Udit Narayan/Sneha Pant/Shankar Mahadevan)
An unimpressive rendition of Ramta Jogi falls flat. Even the so-talented
Udit Narayan cannot save this song. Sentimental lyrics fail with fast
paced music, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy definitely need a holiday! Shankar shows
us how the surila raag should be sung; Sneha does a good job, its good
to see new talent coming up.
RATING: 4/10
3. Thoda Sone Ka Rang (Sneha Pant/Udit Narayan)
'Thoda Sone Ka Rang' is a sweet romantic soft number, very much like the
Chupke se Sun from Mission Kashmir. Sneha leads the way in the first half
of the song and is later joined by Udit Narayan. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy definitely
choose the right people for their songs!
RATING: 6/10
4. Ek Aur Ek Gyarah (Sonu Nigam/Shankar Mahadevan)
The title song lets you imagine Sanjay and Govinda up to their usual tricks!
Imagine the setting of the Aanda song, but add Sonu Nigam's voice and
Ek Aur Ek Gyarah is what you have! It's a catchy and fun song that brings
a smile to your face and gets your foot tapping.
RATING: 5/10
5. O Dushmana (Soumya Raoh/Sonu Nigam)
An attempt at a flirty, and seductive song, does really badly. The music
sounds real bad! Joined by Govinda telling us about who the Dushman is!
Then joins in Sonu Nigam, who tries his best to save this dreadful song.
His attempts unfortunately go wasted.
RATING: 2/10
6. Yeh Man Mera (Abhijeet/Babul Supriyo)
This song starts like a sweet soulful promise to the lords above, on the
lines of a bhajan, but as this is a soundtrack from SEL we have to have
interludes of amazing music interludes, that fit in so well. A pure comical
song!
RATING: 5/10
7. Ek Aur Ek (Part 2) (Udit Narayan/Shankar Mahadevan)
A sad rendition of the title song, which is slightly weird because its
something you would expect from a romantic Bollywood flick rather than
a comical title.
RATING: 3/10
8. Ek Aur Ek (Part 3) (Sonu Nigam/Shankar Mahadevan)
Sonu Nigam shows his stuff again, the tune grows on you, especially with
three different versions.
RATING: 6/10
OVERALL RATING: 6 out of 10
