Songs: 13

1) Dus Bahane (KK and Shaan)
This song has already become hugely popular amongst Bollywood fanatics. Hot vocalists KK and Shaan, who need no introductory words, sing with gusto. Vishaal-Shekhar's foot tapping song is instantly catchy, with a Western style of music. The lyrics, penned by Panchchi Jalonvi, are enticing. The visuals, starring the dashing dudes of Bollywood Abhishek Bachchan and Zayed Khan, are simply lustrous. Both dance to the beats superbly hand the song is definitely the summer anthem. One of the year's best!
Rating: 9.5/10

2) Dus Bahane – Extended Version
Its a great song, so fans will probably enjoy the extended version!
Rating: 8/10

3) Deedar De – Nikhil & Naveed Z Mix (Sunidhi Chauhan and Krishna)
Sunidhi Chauhan warbles ‘Deedar De’ beautifully. Krishna renders some Sufi notes. The lyrics personify the theme of the number aptly and the composition that is a mixture of Western-Arabian contents is alluring. This song appears in another version ‘Ranjit Barot Mix’ next on the album list.
Rating: 8/10

4) Deedar De – Ranjit Barot Mix (Sunidhi Chauhan and Krishna)
This version too sends the chill through your body and gets you to twist your body.
Rating: 8/10

5) Cham Se Woh Aa Jaaye (Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Babul Supriyo, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sapna Mukherjee)
Following next is a feel good track, ‘Cham Se Woh Aa Jaaye’ that ropes in the best of the talents available in industry from Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Babul Supriyo, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sapna Mukherjee and interestingly the whole bunch lures you well. The number is equally wonderful as far as the lyrics and music are concerned.
Rating: 8/10

6) Unse Poochchen (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
When Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik come together for a song, what can you expect than a classy rendition? Both do a great job. Full marks to the lyricist and composers too.
Rating: 8.5/10

7) Saamne Aati Ho (Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan)
Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan deliver the goods with élan in this romantic track. However the routine lyrics and ordinary music disappoint. With this number, the album weakens. A passable track.
Rating: 3/10

8) Jaaniya Ve (Hariharan and Mahalaxmi)
This duet of Hariharan and Mahalaxmi too cannot lift the tempo, which dropped with the last song. Flat singing, mundane lyrics and below average composition that is all you would not like to go with!
Rating: 1/10

9) Adrenaline Nitrate – Dus Theme
This theme song somewhat gets you back to the electrifying mood since it is laced with the rocking effects.
Rating: 7/10

10) Zalzala (Sukhwinder Singh)
Zalzala brings Sukhwinder Singh to trill the song and very effectively the rapid-fire vocalist does the job. Mehboob picks up the pen this time around to write the lyrics but the upshot looks just about okay. Ranjit Barot scores the music that does not carry any novelty as well. Overall the number cannot claim to help the music aficionados hum it around.
Rating: 2.5/10

11) Make Some Noise – Musical Piece
Ranjit Barot arranges an altogether unique musical piece, which is fast-paced English song. This is what you normally listen in Hollywood flicks in the background. The inspiration has surely been drawn from Hollywood scenario nonetheless it appeals in Bollywood scene since the Hindi cinema very rarely uses this ilk of thing in movies. This piece would certainly be placed in the background and looked catchy on screen.
Rating: 9/10

12) Alternate Trance (Caralisa Monteiro)
Caralisa sings western classical alaap brilliantly. This song is another effort to give something unique to Bollywood since this type of music has not been touched before. It makes a pleasant hearing.
Rating: 9/10

13) Get Into My Car (Caralisa Monteiro, Nandini Srikar and Earl D’ Souza)
A techno track, ‘Get Into My Car’ completes the long journey. Caralisa Monteiro, Nandini Srikar and Earl D’ Souza do fine jobs. This number contains a combination of rap and Hindustani music and easily grows on ears.
Rating: 8/10

Overall:
Anubhav Sinha – the man who is best known for making romantic films (Tum Bin and Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai) returns with a thriller this time around. DUS is an album based on hardcore techno music and generally leaves a great impact, except for a few songs, which could be ignored. Vishal-Shekhar have scored an utterly urban soundtrack and given a dose of sophistication to Hindi music. DUS with huge starcast and catchy music will bring mammoth sales from the music stands.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
