Number of Songs: 07
1) Dhoom Machale (Sunidhi Chauhan)
The item song expert Sunidhi Chauhan opens the album with “Dhoom
Machale”. This fast-paced song displays the immensely popular singer’s
hot and husky vocals, which hit you hard. Her loud crooning of the words
“Dhoom Machale Dhoom” charge you up further and the buzzword
“Dhoom” delivered by an unidentified male vocalist shakes
the blood too. The chorus and instrumental arrangement are energetic.
Sameer handles the writing job well and Pritam’s music sounds delightful.
The video only makes the song more powerful and effective. The spicy and
marvelously executed dance sequences of Esha Deol work very well. The
track has already won a worthwhile position on the charts and it certainly
has potential for a long run.
Rating: 9/10
2) Shikdum (Shaan and Shreya Ghosal)
Shaan and Shreya’s love duet, “Shikdum” is next on the
play list. Both singers provide nice, soft vocals that are complimented
by Sameer’s sweet romantic lyrics. Pritam arranges rhythmic music
on the well-penned lyrics. The fusion of guitar and violin is appealing.
The song turns out to be a distinctive effort that deserves some praise.
Rating: 8/10
3) Dilbara (Abhijeet and Sowmya Raoh)
Next is a tapori song titled “Dilbara”, which revolves around
a street guy who woos his girlfriend to settle her life with him. Abhijeet
catches the rhythm perfectly as usual and Sowmya sounds sweet too, but
makes her entry late in the track. Amongst the instruments, the flute
is played exceptionally well. The average lyrics by Sameer negatively
affect the song’s value but Pritam appears to balance the song with
his actively composed music. Overall the song is a treat for the youngsters
and the street boys.
Rating: 6.5/10
4) Dilbara – Repeat Version
The repeat version has the similar effects on the ears like the original
one has along. So it can be heard safely.
Rating: 6.5/10
5) Shikdum – Bedroom Mix (K.K, Gayatri Iyer and Indee)
This time “Shikdum – Bedroom Mix” features the likes
of K.K, Gayatri Iyer and Indee for the job of vocals. Rap pieces are delivered
well and the leading singers soothe the mood too. Sameer disappoints with
the lyrics whilst the hip-shaking composition scored by Pritam comes up
to rescue and gets the momentum back. A foot-tapping song, though it is
thoroughly enjoyable but lacks value due to the ordinary lyrics.
Rating: 6/10
6) Salaame (Kunal Ganjawala and Vasundhara Das)
An entertaining number, “Salaame” features Kunal and Vasundhara.
Since Kunal has been giving popular tracks to his fans recently, one wonders
why does he renders this song lifelessly? Luckily Vasundhara saves the
song with her usual quality rendition. Both Sameer on lyrics and Pritam
on music are just about okay. The overall result is a complete disaster.
Rating: 2/10
7) Dhoom Dhoom (Tata Young)
The soundtrack finishes well with the English version of the title track,
“Dhoom Dhoom”. A high-voltage song, it is sung boisterously
well by an international singer – Tata Young. The instrumental composition
grows on the ears. Creatively penned lyrics by Asif Ali Baig displays
his brilliance and the full of life music composed by Pritam enthralls
the listeners as well. This is a good effort by the entire team to lock
the album.
Rating: 8.5/10
Overall:
Although the Yash Raj banner is popular for making romantic flicks and
presents melodious music for moviegoers, its upcoming venture “Dhoom”
is entirely different and focuses on action-adventure. However the music
completely fits in the theme and works fairly well. This soundtrack is
strictly aimed at the youngsters.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10
