1)
Halka Halka (Sonu Nigam)
After creating the Bollywood dance anthem ‘Dhoom’, music composer
Pritam strikes back with a refreshing, stimulating track, titled 'Halka
Halka Sa Yeh Nasha'. The song starts with guitar and flute piece followed
by Sonu Nigam’s flawless singing. The tune is mesmerizing and gripping,
full marks to the lyricist Mayur Puri who has brought life to this song
with his amazing words. The way this song has been shot, together with
the instantly likeable composition, it looks like Pritam has produced
another ‘Dhoom’ with Halka Halka sa yeh nasha.
Rating: 9/10
2)
Zehreeli Raatein (KK)
By now everyone would have heard about the Pakistani singer Atif Aslam
whose Woh Lamhey was a huge blockbuster. Though zehreeli Raatein is credited
to Pritam it is actually a carbon copy of Atif’s songs from Jal-Aadat.
The sparkling track sung by KK, is a faster, DJ’ish version of Jal’s
Aadat. The song is a sure shot winner and will be popular in discotheques
in coming days.
Rating: 8/10
3)
Jhuki Jhuki (Kailash Kher, Sunidi Chauhan)
If you think of a sufi song, the first name comes to your mind is Kailsh
Kher who sings Jukhi Jukhi with Sunidi Chauhan. It is just ‘another’
song in the album with nothing extraordinary about it. In other words,
a soundtrcak filler. Lyrics by Dev Kohli are passable. Average stuff from
Pritam.
Rating: 4/10
4)
Mummy (Sunidi Chauhan)
Pritam continues with yet another dance track with Mummy sung by Sunidi.
This fast paced song has blend of western beats with high dose of bangra.
The lyrics by Mayur Puri are naughty, and Sunidi with her mischievous
voice excels. Effective picturization on the female lead and effective
promotion could ensure some success for this track.
Rating: 6/10
5)
Panaahon Mein Mohabbat Ki (Kunal Ganjawala)
How can there be an album without Kunal Ganjawala? Panaahon is yet another
winner with high amount of percussions and has heavy influence of western
tune. Kunal does full justice to the song, which is beautifully written
by Praveen Bhardwaj. The use of techno beats enhances the song.
Rating: 7/10
6)
Bheega Bheega (Sunidi Chauhan)
When Pritam can churn out good hits like Dhoom and Halka Sa Nasha, why
does he fall into the trap of plagiarized stuff? Bheega Bheega is a blatant,
shameful lift from from Abrar Ul Haq's song Bheega December that was part
of his album Main Gaddi Aap Chalawan Ga. It is the only melodious tune
in the album and doesn’t disappoint. Hats off to Abrar ul Haq for
composing this wonderful song. This song will leave a great impact when
viewed on big screen.
Rating: 8/10
7)
Halka Halka- Remix (Sonu Nigam)
It has become a fashion of remixing the best, popular song of the album.
Pritam again delivers the goods. The remix will be welcomed by the youngsters.
A foot tapping number!
Rating: 8/10
8)
Khalish Si Hai (Kunal Ganjawala, Suzan)
Kunal and Suzan do wonders in the track Khalish si hai which seems to
be inspired from Pakistani pop bands. Appealing beats, good vocals with
some revitalizing words enhance the chances of the track becoming a hit.
Rating: 7/10
9)
Chocolate Theme
The album ends with astounding theme music. The usage of western instruments,
modern gadgets make it energetic, vigorous and full of life. This will
be used as the background score, which will surely add to the quality
of the film.
Rating: 8/10
OVERALL:
Although a few of the songs have been ripped from Pakistani pop albums
(and should have been credited), Chocolate succeeds in grabbing the listener’s
attention. With catchy, hip hop tunes the album will be welcomed by majority
and will prove to be a successful venture. Surely the Chocolate soundtrack
is going to create a ‘Dhoom’ in coming months.
