Radio Sargam Music Review: Bluffmaster

Producer: Ramesh Sippy
Director: Rohan Sippy
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Nana Patekar
Music: Various
Lyrics: Various
Singers: Late Mehmood, Geeta Dutt, Aneela Mirza, Abhishek Bachchan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Robert Uhlamann, Arash and Others
Audio: RPG
Songs: 13

1) Sabse Bada Rupaiyya (Late Mehmood and Remixed by Trickbaby)
Mehmood’s yestyear classic ‘Sabse Bada Rupaiyya' returns with ‘Bluffmaster’. Keeping Mehmood’s original voice intact, this one is remixed by Trickbaby. Chetna and Saira Hussain give their additional vocals to this three decades old track. The foot-tapping beats make the number more pleasurable further helping you dance to the tunes as the song progresses. The number has been making its appearance on all satellite channels and creating a special niche on the charts. It’s a lively beginning to the album.
Rating: 8/10

2) Say Na Say Na – Bhangra Pop (Aneela Mirza)
‘Say Na Say Na’ is a bhangra pop number. Aneela impresses the most amongst the chorus. Dhol’s thap in the background attracts the ears. A good number for bhangra lovers.
Rating: 6/10

3) Tadbeer Se Bigdi Hui Taqdeer - Destiny Mix (Geeta Dutt Remixed by Sameeruddin)
This evergreen oldie sung by then coveted singer Geeta Dutt begins with the narration of Abhishek Bachchan who talks about his profession. Remix master Sameeruddin gives this song a new shade with his remix but fails to make mark straightaway. Better to skip it!
Rating: 1/10

4) Right Here Right Now (Abhishek Bachchan and Sunidhi Chauhan)
A middle-paced track – not so fast and not so slow - appears next on the soundtrack bringing in Abhishek Bachchan for the very first time warbling the lines for his fans. Since stars have been quick to become singers, it’s Abhishek now with the mike in hand. Yes, he glides well with his alluring rendition and the fellow vocalist Sunidhi Chauhan as usual shoves the pleasures to the heights. The song is in Hindi but carries some English wordings.
Rating: 8/10

5) Right Here Right Now – Remix Version
The track also comes up as a remix version and doesn’t attract at all with the remixed beats.
Rating: 1/10

6) 9 Parts of Desire (Trickbaby)
A Western type of song, ‘9 Parts of Desire’ by Trickbaby follows next. It is simply avoidable from the moment it starts playing.
Rating: 1/10

7) Parde Ke Peeche (Tickbaby)
This song also appears as ‘Parde Ke Peeche’. Jaideep Sahni’s lyrics look just about okay. This track is mundane.
Rating: 1/10

8) The Gateway Theme (Arranged by Sameeruddin)
A short musical piece, ‘The Gateway Theme’ is arranged by Sameeruddin and seems soothing on the ears with the lovely melodies.
Rating: 7/10

9) Bure Bure/Boro Boro (Robert Uhlmann and Arash)
This song has Persian and Hindi wordings and is sung by a Sweden based Iranian vocalist Arash who catches the rhythm well. Robert Uhlmann provides his support aptly too. Jaideep Sahni writes Hindi lyrics that gel well with the mood. Yes, you may give this track a complete hearing.
Rating: 7/10

10) Do Aur Do Paanch (Remixed by Sameeruddin)
Sameeruddin remixes this goldie ‘Do Aur Do Paanch’. Yes, it somewhat appeals and you like to be with but for the remix lovers, it’s a gift.
Rating: 6/10

11) Indi-Yarn (Arranged by Trickbaby)
Trickbaby’s composed ‘Indi-Yarn’ is the one that needs to be skipped the moment it appears on your music player. A poor composition simply destroys the song instantly.
Rating: 1/10

12) Neela (Arranged by Trickbaby)
This arrangement of Trickbaby is another failure and ruins your mood altogether.
Rating: 1/10

13) Come Fishing – Bluffmaster Theme
This track ends up the album and has some piece of dialogues along. The humour presented in this number has been entered only for movie’s promotion but doesn’t have any potential to send chill through the body. An utter letdown.
Rating: 1/10

Overall:
The hardcore masala movie ‘Bluffmaster’ has roped in UK band Trickbaby and some other composers like Arash, Aneela Mirza and Sameeruddin to arrange the tunes. A Ramesh Sippy production, the flick has been directed by Rohan Sippy. This Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra starrer album comprises mostly of the remixed versions of yesteryear’s hit songs and has some other flavors too but the impact of the soundtrack is below average. The album tries to be different but falls flat in its efforts.
Overall Rating: 4/10
